  • The technician will assist in organizing and conducting educational courses that use medical simulation technologies. The technician may be involved in engineering or educational course development or research support and coordination of web-based training.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Responsible for the daily operational activities in simulation training areas to include hardware, software and AV technical support, facility and equipment set-up for teaching sessions.
    • Performs period checks to ensure that data is entered and retrieved correctly and that all regulations
    • regarding confidentiality and security are being followed.
    • Trouble shoot simulation equipment malfunctions as required and/or directed by manufacture, enforcing proper usage and operation by authorized personnel. Performs testing for upgrades and problem solving during implementations, simulation and support phases of clinical systems.

    • Participates in product specific vendor training and in the pre-implementation tasks, as assigned, such as system design, testing and training in order to gain a thorough knowledge of the technology-enabled workflows and the application features and functions.
    • Operate medical simulation technologies during simulation sessions
    • Organize supplies and equipment for use in simulation sessions
    • Assist in setup and transition of simulation scenarios
    • Organize and maintain all simulation related rooms including simulators, storage areas and classrooms.
    • Be able to do Preventive maintenance and 1st and 2nd echelon repairs of mannequins.
    • Operate and maintain advanced audio-video recording systems consisting of multiple cameras, microphones, audio/video mixers, amplifiers, etc
    • Operate Virtual Proctoring equipment during exams
    • Have a working knowledge of web based applications and information systems
    • May coordinate data collection for research studies including documenting information, collating and assisting in analysis of data
    • Create technical documentation materials of best practices for use of simulation equipment
    • May assist in development of enhancements to simulation technologies
    • Perform other diverse duties as needed to conduct training sessions, develop simulation technologies, perform research

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum of High school diploma required. Associate Degree and/or working toward a BS in engineering, or other related field. Experience in a medically related field or certificate program preferred.

    SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    • Computer literacy to the level of at least word-processing, spreadsheets and databases, on-line survey tools, data collection and management systems, teleconferencing systems, web based informational systems,and ability to learn new applications quickly with minimum training.
    • Must be a good self-learner in computer applications
    • Ability to organize, maintains, and order supplies.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    Will work primarily in simulated medical facility and classrooms. May have occasional exposure to electrical or mechanical energy. Occasional lifting of heavy objects, typically not exceeding 75 pounds/person may be requested.
