The University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine, founded in 1946, is dedicated to training future veterinarians, providing services to animal owners and veterinarians, and conducting investigations to improve the health of animals as well as people. The college benefits pets and their owners, food-producing animals, and wildlife by offering the highest quality hospital and diagnostic laboratory services. Preferred QualificationsPosition Summary

The College of Veterinary Medicine (“CVM”) at the University of Georgia seeks applicants for the position of Human Resources Specialist. The HR Specialist will report to the CVM Director of Human Resources and will serve as HR support to eleven departments within CVM. This position will exercise professional judgement and discretion in the coordination of HR operations, which include faculty appointment processing, contract renewals, promotion and tenure tracking, and other faculty related HR functions.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

• Basic computer skills and experience with MS Word and Excel
• Ability to multi-task
• Knowledge of UGAJobs and policies and procedures of UGA Faculty Affairs Office
• Strong attention to detail
• Ability to interpret policies and procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to interact with a variety of personalities at all levels; exercising tact, confidentiality, sound judgment, diplomacy, and flexibility to promote positive working relationships and job effectiveness.

Support the College’s Administrators in hiring of their respective faculty

Advise College hiring units on the hiring process for faculty including assistance with current policies, approvals, new positions, postings, offer letters and appointment packages.

Advise College units on the process for faculty salary supplement requests, administrative appointments and mid-year faculty appointment changes and submit requests for approval.

Promotion and Tenure/Contract Renewals

Responsible for tracking promotion and tenure eligibility and assembling promotion and tenure packets. Coordinate annual faculty contract renewal process.

Provide assistance with various faculty related HR requests

Process faculty rehire retiree requests, submit approval requests for Endowed positions; assist departments with summer payroll/short work breaks for 9-month faculty; assist college units with instructor of record credentialing and faculty leave of absence requests; train CVM department representatives on new faculty processes and procedures; serve as CVM liaison for the Georgia State Board of Veterinary Medicine.
