Communication majors with concentrations in General Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Digital Media, and M.S. in Digital Media or Sports Media also enroll in cross-listed courses with the Art Department.  As the Art Department grows and the industry evolves, we have a greater need for faculty in digital and emergent-media production.

The Candidate we are seeking will teach in both the undergraduate and graduate programs and have expertise in graphic design and web design and related topics with a 21-credit teaching load, plus additional research and campus citizenship activities.   Faculty are encouraged and expected to support the broader university and department goals, which may include teaching in a variety of graduate and undergraduate media courses.

Qualifications include:

  • Experience teaching graphic design, web design, and/or visual communication is preferred.
  • Must have an MFA or a Ph.D. (ABD applicants will be considered). Applicants holding or pursuing a Ph.D. must also hold a Masters of Design, Masters of Graphic Design, or similar degree at time of hire.
  • Experience in program development is a plus.

As a campus with an increasingly diverse student body, we encourage applications from individuals with a commitment to mentoring students from underrepresented communities.  Please submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, teaching statement, research statement, and contact information for three references to Interfolio at http://apply.interfolio.com/68768.  In your cover letter, please include brief statements of (a) how you might contribute to the university’s distinctive mission, and (b) what experiences you have had which will enable you to mentor a diverse student body.  Candidates who submit names of references should expect that the search committee will contact these references, in confidence, and that credentials will be confirmed prior to hire.  Employment will require a satisfactory criminal background check.  Applications will be considered until the position is filled; however, applicants are encouraged to apply by December 1, 2019, for timely consideration.
