Position is based in Athens GA and may require periodic travel.

The Institute on Human Development and Disability /UCEDD seeks a temporary part-time assistant to work within our Disability Studies Certificate program. The purpose of the Interdisciplinary Disability Studies Certificate is to provide students at the University of Georgia with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to become professionals and leaders who are capable of implementing change in values, policy, and practice across the nation. These professionals will promote the true inclusion of all individuals with disabilities as fully participating members of our communities and nation, with all the rights accorded to every citizen. The temporary assistant will be responsible for assigned tasks that will support the success of the Certificate Program and the activities within which may include:

  • Administrative and general office support
  • Data collection and reporting
  • Programmatic support to Destination Dawgs: Inclusive Postsecondary Education
  • Instructional support in Disability Studies courses

Tasks will vary per semester.

The temporary assistant will be required to be physically located in close proximity to the UGA Athens campus.

Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification in Position

Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Social Work, Vocational Rehabilitation or related discipline.

Completion of a Disability Studies Certificate preferred.

Experience working with youth with intellectual and developmental disabilities and their families including assisting with finding inclusive employment opportunities.

Experience with onsite data collection and research methods.

Experience supporting youth with disabilities in on-campus/residential settings.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite programs particularly with Excel.

Physical Demands

Working at a desk and using a computer for periods of time. May have some light lifting (but not required).
