Job Summary

The Cosmetology adjunct instructor reports to the Business and Technology Department Chair or designee. The adjunct Cosmetology instructor duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, classroom and lab instruction of cosmetology skills, provide professional leadership in the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum, and participate in professional development activities. Teaching assignment may include day and evening classes.

Minimum Qualifications

Associate degree from an accredited college.
Five years of recent experience in the field.
TDLR license

Experience and/or certifications may possibly be substituted for a portion of the educational requirement. Ability to understand the teaching and evaluation methodologies used in the total instructional process. Ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff members in a professional manner. Must demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of students from diverse backgrounds. Ability to plan, schedule, and manage projects and assignments. Ability to establish effective working relationships with others. Ability to clearly communicate. Must comply with established College rules and procedures.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, speak, listen, and see. The employee is occasionally required to sit, lift, push, pull and carry objects.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate’s degree in Cosmetology
