(Please note: FT Visiting positions are rare and they should not be the sole purpose for your application.)
Major ResponsibilitiesA classroom based 3 credit hour course pays $2875 per class.The department typically hires for the courses/subject areas listed below but this list is not all inclusive. Other courses/subject areas may become available within the department. ILLUSTRATIVE NEEDS INCLUDE:

LIT 511 – Teaching Literacy in the Primary Grades
LIT 516 – Teaching Literacy in the Intermediate Grades
LIT 525 – Discrete Literacy Instruction and Assessment
LIT 527 – Comprehension Instruction and Assessment
LIT 528 – Literacy Foundations
LIT 530 – Reading Recovery 1
LIT 531 – Reading Recovery 2
LIT 535 – Writing Instruction and Assessment
LIT 549 – Literacy in the Middle and Secondary School
LIT 560 – Children’s and Young Adult Literature in the Curriculum
LIT 590 – Teaching and Learning Literacy in the Digital Age
LIT 630 – Literacy and Society
LIT 669 – The Literacy Specialist and The Literacy Program
LIT 690 – Assessment for the Specialized Literacy Professional
LIT 693 – Applied Assessment and Instruction: Literacy Capstone and Practicum
Reports to the academic department chair
Required QualificationsMaster’s degree in Literacy/Reading Education or related field.
Preferred QualificationsNew York State certification in Literacy/Reading
Doctorate in Literacy/Reading Education or related field. Minimum of three years of B-12 teaching of reading.
