Duties Performed in the Usual Course of the Job

The Department of Kinesiology at Sam Houston State University (SHSU) invites applications from a diverse group of qualified applicants for an Assistant Professor Tenure-Track position with expertise in Exercise Science. The duties and responsibilities of this position include teaching kinesiology courses at the undergraduate and graduate level, maintaining a research agenda, mentoring students, performing university and professional service, and contributing to ongoing program evaluation and improvement.

Teaching assignments may include undergraduate and graduate courses such as Exercise Testing and Prescription, Physiology of Exercise, Advanced Topics in Physiology of Exercise, Motor Learning, Advanced Strength Training, Functional Kinesiology, and Advanced Biomechanics. A background in strength and conditioning, fitness, and/or performance is preferred. In addition, this faculty member is expected to maintain a research agenda with potential to collaborate with existing faculty. Lastly, this faculty member is expected to participate in program, department, college, and university activities.

Educational Requirements for the Position

Earned doctorate in kinesiology or related discipline from an accredited institution.

Experience Required for the Position

A demonstrated record of teaching, scholarship, and service commensurate with appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.

Other Requirements for the Position

Use of technology in instruction, and experience with distance/online education is preferred.

Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations is preferred.
