Job description

The New York University Silver School of Social Work (SSSW) invites applications for one tenure-track Assistant Professor faculty position. The 9-month tenure/tenure track appointment will begin in September 1, 2020.

Expertise in the following priority areas is preferred, but not necessary for consideration: poverty, prevention, integrated health, social determinants of health, mental health treatment disparities, child welfare, and evidence-based social work practice. Candidates with scholarship that builds on the strengths of the SSSW, including community-engaged research, social work practice, and implementation research are preferred, as are those with expertise in social work practice with diverse populations.

A doctoral degree in social work or a related field is required, along with an outstanding record of scholarship, including a well-conceptualized research agenda, potential to secure extramural funding, and publications in peer-reviewed venues. In addition to conducting research, the successful candidate will teach in the School’s academic programs (BSW, MSW, PhD, and DSW) and be fully engaged in professional service and leadership at the SSSW and NYU. Applicants should exhibit commitment to social and economic justice and possess an ability to facilitate conversations concerning privilege, oppression, and intersecting social identities.
