Department Description

The Center for Aging & Health (CAH) and the Division of Geriatric Medicine are organizations within the School of Medicine. Both organizations report to Dr. Jan Busby-Whitehead, Director of CAH and Division Chief. The CAH is an interdisciplinary group of professionals who promote the health and well-being of older citizens. The mission is to promote collaborative basic and clinical science research in aging, to develop innovative geriatrics and gerontological education programs for physicians and multidisciplinary health professionals, and to provide consultation to agencies who serve older citizens.

Position Description

This position will provide support to the Directors and Fellows of the Geriatric Medicine and Hospice and Palliative Medicine Fellowships. In addition, this position will provide support to medicine and medicine pediatrics residents, and to medical students rotating on geriatrics. The purpose of this position is to provide administrative, reporting, and scheduling support required by the Division for the fellows, residents and medical students.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

Considerable knowledge of running either a fellowship or residency program. Considerable knowledge of administrative practices, techniques and technology. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, excellent judgment, decision making ability and ability to exercise discretion when dealing with top-level, confidential, and priority information. Ability to efficiently perform, manage and coordinate a volume of administrative tasks simultaneously with attention to detail. Ability to work independently with a minimum of direction. Skill in effective planning, prioritization and organization of workload. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with fellows, staff and faculty. Excellent public relations skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with ACGME reporting, Electronic Residency Application Services (ERAS), and MedHub.
