California State University, Sacramento seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank in Mexican Literature and Culture, with a strong secondary specialization in Latin American Colonial literature. Duties include: teaching courses ranging from elementary to advanced Spanish language to undergraduate and graduate courses on Mexican literature, culture, and colonial literature; engaging in scholarly activities; advising students; and providing service to the department, college, campus, and community. Organization

The Department of World Languages and Literatures at Sacramento State has 30 full-time and part-time faculty members serving more than 800 undergraduates and 30 graduate students. Our department offers a Master of Arts in Spanish, undergraduate majors in Spanish and French, minors in Chinese, French, German, Italian, and Spanish, and also offers language classes in Arabic, Korean, and Punjabi. Our undergraduate programs are designed to provide students the opportunity to learn about languages, literatures, and cultures, to broaden cultural understanding, increase language proficiency, and be able to communicate successfully both in a pluralistic American society and abroad.
