Job Description
POSITION OBJECTIVE

Working under general supervision, the employee serves the various constituencies of the university in a manner that is consistent with the educational philosophy and principles of the institution. The primary objective of this position is to provide a high level of customer service transporting passengers, delivering mail and greeting visitors attending university events. The service attendant will maintain a professional behavior, and attitudes in regards to customers, visitors, and colleauges.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Transport passengers in a safe and professional manner. Complete vehicle inspection sheets prior to use of the vehicle for safe transport. (38%)Review assigned areas for motor vehicle in a restricted place and determine is parking is in an unauthorized manner. Issue parking tickets, using electronic handheld machines. (14%)Communicate with dispatch to receive instructions. Handle immediate parking issues when dispatched. (10%)Notify supervisor on parking trends to address lot space availability. Report inoperative parking meters and perform space counts. Report parking lot and garage maintenance items during shift. (10%)Work as attendant during events, school breaks and emergencies. Secure parking lots and spaces with cones and sign placement. (8%)Assist disabled customers with care and concern. Deliver wheelchair and parking supplies where needed. Push wheelchairs. (6%)

NONESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    Deliver mail and packages to parking operations. (5%)Assist maintenance staff with work projects during extended school breaks. (5%)Perform other specialized operational functions within the department as assigned. (4%)

CONTACTS

Department: Daily communication with central dispatch via portable radio and tablet to exchange information.

University: Daily contact with public during special events to exchange information.

External: Occasional contact with public during special events to exchange information.

Students: Daily contact with university students using transport vehicle to exchange information.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position has no supervisory responsibility.

QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 3 years of customer service.

Education/licensing: High school education required, two-year degree preferred. Possess a valid Ohio operator's license with no significant violations. Must pass a thorough background investigation including criminal history.

REQUIRED SKILLS

    Have an understanding of customer service within a large institution.Possess the ability to interact in a sensitive, courteous and understanding manner with members of a diverse academic community.Good verbal and written communication skills.Ability to interact with colleagues, supervisor, and customers face to face.Ability to drive safely, operate tablets and handheld computer ticket dispensers.Must be familiar Ohio traffic laws and regulations.Ability to meet consistent attendance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

The employee will drive vehicle. Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions. May require sitting reaching, standing, walking, climbing, pushing, and the ability to lift or move people. May require extended hours and working weekends. Ability to lift parking cones, signs and light equipment.
