The Department of Economics, Finance and Legal Studies in the Culverhouse College of Business at The University of Alabama invites applications for an opening for an assistant professor of finance beginning August 16, 2020. Primary duties include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, engaging in a research program that results in articles in outstanding scholarly publications, and performing service as assigned by the Department, College, and University.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: (1) A doctoral degree in finance or economics; (2) a high quality research agenda, and current working papers/accepted papers; (3) demonstrated high-quality teaching.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applications from all areas of finance are welcome.

Additional Position Information:

The finance program offers degrees at the undergraduate, Masters and Ph.D. levels. The Masters programs include a full-time MBA, a weekend MBA program for executives, and a one-year MS in finance. The department offers an excellent research environment including generous travel support, an active seminar series and Ph.D. graduate research assistants. Departmental faculty have published in many of the top finance journals including JF, JFE, RFS, and JFQA, as well as top economics journals including AER, JOE, Econometrica, JBES and the Journal of Law and Economics. The College has state-of-the art facilities for both teaching and research including multimedia classrooms, subscriptions to WRDS and an excellent collection of databases. The University is located in Tuscaloosa, a city of about 120,000 people, located an hour’s drive from Birmingham (a metropolitan area with about 1 million people). The cities of Atlanta, Memphis, Nashville and New Orleans, as well as the beaches along the Gulf of Mexico and Smoky Mountains are all within a few hours driving time.
