The Receptionist/Scheduler is responsible for receiving, greeting, scheduling, and obtaining vital patient information for the Department of Pediatric for the School of Medicine. The Receptionist/Scheduler will verify and enter patient insurance and demographic information while scheduling appointments, and registering all patients for office hours in the Centricity system. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring and verifying that all the required documentations are completed; performing front end billing functions; preparing charges and payment batches; assigning diagnosis codes; initiating new patient charts; answering telephones; and processing monthly reports related to charge entry and charge capture. The Receptionist/Scheduler is also required to use a considerable degree of discretion in transferring correct insurance information, biographical data, and researching erroneous/incomplete admission information. Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Education & Experience:
At least three years’ experience working in a medical setting such as a Physician’s Office, Hospital, Medical School/College, and/or Medical Practice. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

*Must be able to travel to offsite locations that may not be accessible by public transportation.
*Demonstrated knowledge of Third Party Billing.
*Demonstrated ability to multi-tasks in a very busy, hectic environment.
*Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills.
*Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology.
*Demonstrated ability to provide excellent customer service.
*Demonstrated ability to work independently particularly during peck/hectic schedules.
*Demonstrated knowledge of Centricity software.
