Western Carolina University is hiring a .NET application developer. The position has the option to either work from the Cullowhee, NC campus or telework on a full-time basis.

The Application Developer is responsible for designing, developing and maintaining a range of technical solutions (primarily .NET web applications) that originate with IT project requests. Solutions range from performing feasibility of a new feature to standing up 3rd party software to building custom solutions within adopted frameworks. Development duties mainly consist of creating and maintaining web applications and web services using object-oriented languages, leveraging object-relational mapping frameworks for database operations, and collaborating with other developers to develop and maintain internal frameworks. The developer participates in all aspects of the system development life cycle — analysis, design, implementation, testing and maintenance.

Telework requirements (for candidates choosing to telework):
-Must be located within a six hour driving distance of the WCU campus in Cullowhee, NC.
-Periodic campus visits (regular quarterly status meetings and occasional project meetings) will be required.
-Most meetings will be conducted via video conference when possible so conference capabilities must be available from remote work location.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or Engineering or related technical degree from an appropriately accredited institution and two years of experience in business application consulting or development; or a Bachelor’s degree with some computer coursework from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in business applications consulting or development; or an Associate’s degree in computer programming and three years of experience in application consulting or development: or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with RESTful web services, Oracle, SQL, Java, C#, .NET Framework, JavaScript, Microsoft Model-View-Controller Framework, Microsoft Entity Framework
