Description:

The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a non tenure-track faculty member to serve as the Clinical Assistant Professor in Speech-Language Pathology. The anticipated start date is December 1, 2019. This is a benefits eligible 9 month position. Summer teaching associated with this position may be available, but not guaranteed. The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders is CAA accredited and offers BS, MA, AuD and PhD degrees.

The job responsibilities will include primarily teaching graduate and undergraduate clinical practicum courses, and establishment and maintenance of partnerships with clinical sites and the respective external supervisors. Specifically, they will ensure that our students are provided with guidance needed to meet the Knowledge and Skills Competencies across the scope of practice. They will also ensure that the program has a sufficient pool of locations for off-campus clinical experience, secure new placements as needed, and coordinate the completion of affiliation and program agreements in coordination with the Graduate Program Coordinator and Associate Chair. Additional responsibilities include administrative and service duties such as department, college, and university committee work.


Qualifications:

Requirements include a master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Candidates must be ASHA certified (CCC-SLP) and in good standing with ASHA’s Council for Certification, possess (or be eligible for) a current Texas license in Speech-Language Pathology, and be in good standing with the state regulatory agency. Preference will be given to individuals who have a minimum of three years of clinical, professional experience, and possess demonstrated knowledge of ASHA accreditation standards. Experience in coordination of clinical practicum placement and clinical supervision is highly desirable. Candidates who are able to provide services to diverse clinical population across life span are especially encouraged to apply.
