The Dell Medical School at the University of Texas at Austin in collaboration with the Seton Heart & Vascular Institute is seeking a dynamic and dedicated physician to join the Division of Vascular Surgery in the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Care in partnership with Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas and Seton Medical Center Austin.

Eligible applicants will be fellowship-trained, and board certified (or board eligible within five years of completion of fellowship) in vascular surgery by the American Board of Surgery.

Dell Seton Medical Center at the University of Texas is the primary teaching hospital for Dell Medical School and the centerpiece of a new health district in downtown Austin. The hospital is a new facility built, owned and operated by Ascension Seton, a member of Ascension, the largest non-profit health system in the United States. Ascension Seton has played a major role in shaping Dell Medical School’s signature curriculum and research efforts, which include a focus on creating a more efficient and effective healthcare system and training future physician leaders.

Seton Heart & Vascular Institute is a multidisciplinary cardiovascular physician practice of 45 providers delivering care across 11 counties in Central Texas. In addition to Dell Seton Medical Center, cardiovascular services are provided at 3 other facilities with endovascular/vascular surgery capabilities within the Ascension Texas system including Seton Medical Center Austin, the region’s leader in complex cardiovascular care. The physician group consists of providers from all cardiovascular subspecialties including vascular surgery, interventional cardiology, structural heart, noninvasive cardiology (echo, nuclear, cardiac CT, MRI), EP, CHF/VAD/transplant, and prevention.

Primary responsibilities will include 1) provision of care to patients with vascular disease as part of a multi-disciplinary vascular medicine team; 2) medical student and resident education; 3) participation in clinical, health services, translational and/or basic science research. The successful candidate will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team with a passion for quality, innovation and teamwork that will incorporate opportunities to train and mentor medical students and residents, as well as develop and foster an atmosphere of scientific and academic inquiry.

Required Qualifications

• Medical degree from an accredited medical school;
• Meets applicable credentialing and privileging standards for his/her specialty;
• Unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Texas (or the ability to obtain prior to appointment);
• Board certification (or eligible) in Vascular Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
• Eligible for a faculty appointment at the University of Texas Dell Medical School.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing and delivery care through a multidisciplinary team;
• Familiarity and experience with value based health care payment and delivery models;
• Proven track record of academic accomplishment.
