Job Description Summary
Selected applicants will be interviewed to establish a pool of approved CNA instructors for possible part-time clinical teaching assignments in the Nursing Assistant Program. Teaching opportunities will include long-term care clinical and skills lab setting. Assigned days dependent upon teaching opportunity and scheduled between Monday and Saturday.

Essential Functions & Qualifications

Required:
-Current Registered Nurse license with 2 years of nursing experience, at least 1 year of which must be providing direct patient care in a long-term care facility;
-One year experience in planning, implementing, and evaluating educational programs in nursing;

AND


-Experience teaching adults or supervising nurse aides or have completed a course in teaching adults;


OR

-The ability to take and complete a pre-developed 30-hour course in teaching adults;AND -Department of Health Services Certification for Director of Staff Development
OR
-The ability to take and complete a 24-hour course to meet the approval process to become Director of Staff Development in long-term care.
OR

OR

-A valid Community College credential in the discipline (If received prior to 1990, as the credential is no longer being issued).

Required:
-Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

Desirable:
-Teaching experience in the discipline, community college level preferred;
-Awareness of the philosophy and objectives of California Community Colleges.
