Director of Transfer Recruitment

Alma College is seeking an admissions professional to lead the college’s transfer recruitment efforts and serve in a leadership role on the admissions team. Salary is dependent upon experience and qualifications. This position reports to the Vice President for Admissions and works on the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive student recruitment plans and serves as a resource for the campus. This person will be responsible for administering a comprehensive transfer student recruitment plan and interfacing with on- and off-campus partners to help the institution meet and exceed transfer enrollment goals.

Duties include:

  • Interview and counsel future students and their parents on college admission requirements and the overall college selection process

  • Represent and promote the college to external constituencies and participate in on and off campus Admissions activities, including partnership meetings with community colleges

  • Cover administrative tasks for the Admissions Office as needed

  • Serve as a liaison to campus partners, including, but not limited to Student Affairs, Housing, and Financial Aid

  • Review admissions files and make admissions decisions

  • Assist with the development and execution of communication and marketing content

  • Plan and/or participate in on and off-campus Admissions activities to professionally represent and promote the college to external constituencies

  • Develop, implement, and enhance transfer student orientation

  • Serve as an information resource to students, faculty and staff by maintaining knowledge of transfer articulation agreements and other transfer requirements

  • Work with the academic sector to design efficient and effective transfer tools and policies

  • Contribute to the overall success of the Admissions Office by performing all other duties as assigned

The individual in this role also oversees the facilitation of a MiCUP grant for a transfer students transitions program TAP and supervises the Transition Assistance Program Counselor.

Work will also include targeted communication, telecounseling, and participation in admission events on and off campus.

This position requires night and weekend work and significant travel throughout the year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred
  • Five or more years of transfer admissions or related experience
  • Experience working with faculty/staff/students from post-secondary institutions.
  • Strength in data analysis and problem solving.
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal and written)
  • Ability to connect and build relationships with prospective students and families
  • A valid driver’s license and approval from the college to drive
  • Self-motivated and goal oriented
  • Ability to work both independently as well as part of a team

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Seven or more years of admissions or other professional experience
  • Experience with admissions marketing
  • Knowledge of Slate or similar student information systems
