Department: Communication

Position: Assistant Professor of Communication, Tenure-track, Fall 2020

Qualification: Ph.D. in Communication or related field (ABD with completion prior to appointment considered).

Position Description: The Department of Communication seeks a tenure-track Assistant Professor who will support the department’s mission of combining theory and practice in a program emphasizing a liberal arts perspective. The successful candidate will demonstrate commitment to undergraduate teaching and advising (4:4 teaching load) and will have the primary responsibility of teaching Communication Writing.

Preference will be given to candidates who are able to bring innovation to writing instruction in the department's major core curriculum. The candidate will also contribute to one or more of the major concentrations (Advertising, Leadership Communication, Media Production, Media Writing/Journalism, Public Relations) or to the Integrated Communication Media concentration in the interdisciplinary major in New Media Studies.

Faculty at Eastern maintain an active program of scholarly and creative activity in their area of academic specialization and contribute to the governance of the institution at the departmental, school, and college level through service on committees, professional activity, and curriculum development. The Department of Communication has recently moved into newly-renovated space with state-of-the-art equipment and lab facilities.
