The Graduate School of Education (GSE) at the University at Buffalo, SUNY invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in School Psychology in the Department of Counseling, School and Educational Psychology. The Department of Counseling, School and Educational Psychology has a long history of research excellence and a strong tradition of teaching and community engagement. Faculty demonstrate a commitment to creating a collegial academic environment characterized by equity, social justice, interdisciplinary collaboration and by ensuring that the research and practice mission of GSE contributes to local schools, agencies, and neighborhoods.

Building on program expertise in social emotional learning, mindfulness, trauma-informed practice, and anti-bullying scholarship, we seek a colleague whose research and teaching interests intersect with one of the following two areas: 1) academics/RTI and systems focus (multi-tier or specific academic intervention focus such as math or reading; and 2) behavioral or ABA with either a systems/PBIS and/or a focus on a particular disability of childhood (e.g., autism, ADHD). We are also particularly interested in scholars whose research directly engages questions of practice in urban and bilingual school settings. Ideal candidates are able to make clear connections between their scholarly work and the needs of marginalized and underserved students and families and schools.

Responsibilities Include:

• Maintaining an active and productive research agenda commensurate with Research 1 tenure track faculty appointments
• Seeking external grant funding
• Teaching two courses per semester at the graduate level in Masters programs and PhD program related to candidate’s expertise
• Teaching and Advising Ed.M. and Ph.D. Students

Minimum Requirements:

• Earned doctorate in school psychology or a closely related field
• Demonstrated potential for research productivity via peer-reviewed scholarship
• Demonstrated commitment to advancing diversity and social justice through actions and efforts as a scholar, educator, or graduate student
• Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from many different backgrounds and contexts

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience translating research to practice (service, partnership with schools)
• Demonstrated potential for excellence in the classroom
• Ability to pursue and sustain externally funded research program
• Licensed or license eligible and preference for state or national certification as a school psychologist
• Experience working in a school setting, particularly in urban settings with diverse populations
