The UTRGV School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine seek experienced faculty to expand education and patient services at our clinical entity, UT Health Rio Grande Valley, a new academic medical center in South Texas. The successful candidate will work with the Chair and Residency Program Director to develop all aspects of the position including development of a comprehensive clinical practice, development and implementation of educational activities for residents and medical students, and establishment of a research program focused on issues impacting the patient population of the Rio Grande Valley. Academic rank will be awarded commensurate with experience and academic credentials.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an ACGME accredited residency in Family Medicine, must be Board certified, eligible and/or possess a Texas Medical License

Discipline Specific Required QualificationsPreferred Qualifications

At least 3 years’ experience in an academic setting with demonstration of strong leadership skills, outstanding clinical practice, and success in teaching residents and medical students. A proven track record in clinical or translational research is a plus.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.
