About the PositionThe Applications Programmer Analyst is responsible for analyzing, enhancing, developing, installing, testing and modifying enterprise-wide and stand-alone business applications. This position will provide technical application support for existing JEE and C# systems and assist in the development of system solutions. The Applications Programmer Analyst will be part of the systems programming team, writing and maintaining application programs, coding from documented specifications, gathering requirements and documenting technical specifications. The incumbent will create and support automated tests for quality assurance of the supported applications and be responsible for scheduling and monitoring jobs, and coordinating administrative efforts with the Chancellor's Office.
The Applications Programmer Analyst will have hands-on experience with web application development, job scheduling (Control M) administration and support skills including testing, documentation of web application development standards analyzing procedures, systems and organizational structures, administration and remediation of job scheduling issues and translating results into computer-based solutions on various computer platforms. The incumbent will participate in the review and definition of business problems, including the preparation of technical requirements to support the mission of the university and administrative departments. Duties and system assignments may be temporarily or permanently changed to meet the needs and goals of the department and university. The incumbent will interact with campus technical support staff and customers to provide reliable services. The incumbent will be required to follow CSU and SJSU security policies and standards for application development and support. The incumbent will be proactive in his or her approach in order to make recommendations and ensure users/departments have the most up-to-date technological solutions to perform their jobs and serve the university community effectively.
Required Qualifications-A bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience in related field
-Three years of experience in business applications analysis, design, and programming for medium or large scale, multi-programmed computers
Preferred Qualifications-Experience with C#/ASP.net and/or JEE platforms.
-Experience with Object Oriented development using JEE or Asp.net frameworks (e.g. Struts, Spring, MVC.net,) IDE (Eclipse, Visual Studio,) ORM (Hibernate) and web application server (e.g. JBoss, Tomcat, IIS) environments
-Experience with data base management system software (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL software)
-Experience with Job Scheduling Administration and Support (Control M)
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities-Advanced knowledge of C#/ASP.net and/or JEE platforms and application development using JEE or Asp.net frameworks (e.g. Struts, Spring, MVC.net,) IDE (Eclipse, Visual Studio,) and web application server (Tomcat, IIS) environments.
-Proven understanding of relational databases data base management system software (e.g., Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL software ;) to support and maintain data and/or to run queries.
-Knowledge of job scheduling applications (Control M), monitoring applications, and ability to interpret error messages.
-Knowledge of common software development methodologies preferably Agile and Waterfall.
-Working knowledge of Quality assurance and quality control methodologies in order to comply with established standards.
-Working knowledge of Application deployment methodologies in order to effectively deploy the developed application.
-Working knowledge of various database access methods to troubleshoot problems and advise users and collaborate with DBAs and application developers.
-Consultative skills to assess user needs and communicate technology systems and solutions.
