Position Qualifications - Responsibilities:

The Department of Physics in the College of Science and Mathematics at Kennesaw State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Physics position in Theoretical Particle Physics to begin August 2020. Current research in the department in this area includes perturbative QCD calculations and resummations, top quark and Higgs physics, parton distribution functions, and high-energy collider phenomenology. Although applicants in all areas of Theoretical Particle Physics will be given full consideration, we are particularly interested in applicants who can complement and enhance the existing research in the department. The successful candidate will be expected to perform world-class research and to seek external funding. The College of Science and Mathematics’ Student Success Initiative has an imperative for including and fostering success for students from a diversity of backgrounds in STEM degree programs. Successful applicants will be strongly committed to inclusive teaching practices and student success among CSM disciplines and be ready to invest deeply in KSU students.

The ideal candidate will have postdoctoral experience, a significant record of research and peer-reviewed publications, and strong potential for developing an externally-funded research program. Service to the department is also required.

Required Education - Experience - Skills (Minimum Qualifications):

Applicants must have an earned doctorate or the foreign equivalent in Physics or a closely related field.

The Department of Physics supports a robust undergraduate degree program in physics with concentrations in general physics, electrical engineering, and mechanical engineering. With 23 full-time faculty members, the department serves over 90 undergraduate physics majors and has a history of student engagement including vibrant student organizations and undergraduate research. Research in the department focuses on theoretical and experimental particle physics, materials physics, and optics. The Department is in the College of Science and Mathematics, which also houses the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry; Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology; Department of Mathematics; Department of Molecular and Cellular Biology; and Department of Statistics and Analytical Sciences.
