$24.20 per hour.

Job Summary

Provide support to the Industry and Technology academic department through serving as an academic advisor for DMACC students. The part-time advisor will provide academic advising, along with making necessary referrals to new and current students in engineering technology programs. Part-time advisors will advise students in all phases of academic and career planning, including program and course information, scheduling, registration, transfer requirements, and articulation agreements. Part-time advisor will also work closely with New Student Orientation and provide support through coordination of materials, logistics of the programs, and assisting students with their transition to DMACC.

Essential Functions

Inform and advise prospective and current students in all phases of education planning, college services, and community resources. Assist with the coordination, organization, and logistics of on campus new student orientation sessions for new students, parents, families and guests. Assist with the transition of new students to the institution through informational presentations. Participate in discussions with stakeholders of the New Student Orientation program and provide feedback to improve future programs. Assist in planning, organizing and participating in recruiting events. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus two years of advising, recruitment, admissions or related experience. Knowledge of current college educational and student services procedures and practices. Ability to effectively interact and communicate with a diverse population of students and education professionals. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing and to prepare and deliver public presentations. Knowledge of current software applications.

Desired Qualifications

Master’s degree in educational administration, student personnel, counseling, or related field. Knowledge of DMACC educational and student services procedures and practices. Experience within an education institution.

Work Schedule

20 hours per week. Occasional evening and weekend for recruiting events.
