General Summary

This position will support the development of a plan to establish an EMU Collegiate Recovery Program. Additionally, the position will support the Students for Recovery (SFR) student organization in programming initiatives for the 2019-2020 academic year.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assist staff in researching and writing a long term Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) Plan
Promote recovery awareness on EMU's campus and help reduce stigma
Provide coordinative support for SFR events and activities
Coordinate communication between EMU SFR and recovering community
Assist with marketing of AA meetings and recruitment of members for SFR
Coordinate requests for presentations from departments and organizations
Perform related duties as required.

Qualifications

Working knowledge of what it means to be in "recovery"
One to two years of experience in substance abuse-related field or a concentration that is related to substance abuse
Being currently in recovery for at least one year is desirable

Supplemental Information

This position is a half-time appointment for 10 hours per week.
Must be able to work some nights and weekends for specific events and programs.

The mission of EMU Students for Recovery is to promote the academic and social well-being of recovering students, faculty, and staff at Eastern Michigan University through service, empowerment, and community building. SFR provides a supportive environment on campus for those who are in recovery from an addiction and those affected by another person's addiction.

For a full-time GA appointment, the University provides a tuition scholarship for up to 18 credit hours in each academic year (September 1 to August 31) of the assistantship.

For graduate assistants who are appointed to part-time positions and for GAs who begin employment after the start of the semester, the number of credit hours covered by the award will be prorated.
