DESCRIPTIONWill serve as General Accountant with the Campus Accounting Team. This position is primarily responsible for general accounting transactions, serving to support general accounting needs on a floater basis. Duties will involve complex financial transactional support to campus and external customers.
This position uses professional accounting concepts to complete accounting assignments, such as journal entries, that are of moderate scope. Analysis, reconciliation, and resolution of accounts (specifically clearing and transfer accounts) and data requires a review of a variety of factors and multiple sources. Exercises judgment within defined accounting procedures and practices, such as GAAP, GASB and College and University Accounting standards, to determine appropriate actions. Works closely with internal and external resources on a regular basis. Applies policies and procedures to resolve a variety of accounting issues.
Pay rate: $25 - $33 /hour, including paid holidays and vacation/sick leave. Full-medical insurance also available for long-term assignments.
QUALIFICATIONSDemonstrated experience analyzing and summarizing complex accounting data, performing complex reconciliations, preparing financial statements and resolving complex accounting problems.
Ability to apply more advanced accounting concepts to complete work assignments. Demonstrated ability to assess job needs and job-related demands, establish priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent oral and written skills. Ability to write and explain policies and procedures by first analyzing business requirements, regulations and similar information as well as writing formal business correspondence and needs analyses
Working knowledge of financial transactions and systems, as well as related policy, accounting, and regulatory compliance requirements. In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, theory, and practice; balance sheet accounts; and principles of reconciliation.
Demonstrated knowledge of automated accounting systems, including the ability to analyze functionality and recommend enhancements.
Graduation from college with a major in Accounting or Finance and two (2) years of experience in accounting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
