Incumbent will be responsible for support of BSL-2 laboratory activities. Incumbent is responsible for the laboratory support duties such as washing and autoclaving glassware, routine and preventative maintenance of lab equipment. The incumbent will be responsible for preparing culture media, reagents, buffers and other solutions. Incumbent will be expected to order, stock and inventory supplies as needed; maintain a clean and sterile lab environment; assist with administration duties such as package shipping and receiving, mail retrieval, answering phones and processing visitors. Have good communication skills and will report directly to the Research Manager and as a fully productive, cooperative team member.

Designing and executing research experiments and protocols under guidance of the PI (PI will assist the Research Tech III in designing the experiment). Conducts complex research experiments as assigned by supervisor. Follows concise lab protocols to process samples under precise requirements from sponsor or research dollars. Work with multiple investigators within the department in their respective field. Job duties will vary with each investigator. Professionally communicate with investigators, sponsors, and colleagues concerning the affected work flow, time limitations, and project status.Percentage of time40Duties/Responsibilities
Perform laboratory maintenance duties such as autoclaving, dishwashing, and technical equipment maintenance. Maintains inventory of chemicals, media and other supplies through the UGAmart.
