The Assistant Director, Student Accounts works closely with departments on campus to ensure daily operations, processing, communication, and controls are effective and efficient. This position assists with the collection of approximately $180 million in student accounts receivable for new and continuing students.

The incumbent will provide excellent customer service to students, families, colleagues, and other stakeholders who have inquiries into the area of student accounts.

Counsel, advise/educate parents, students and campus community on student accounts policies and procedures while complying with FERPA regulations.

Essential Functions of the Position

Accounts Receivable Work
  • Assist with the collection of approximately $180 million in accounts receivables
  • Coordinate payment options to clear balance for current students
  • Coordinate the publishing of billing statements on a regular basis
  • Communicate with students while providing excellent customer service

Processing/Technical Functions
*Assist Associate Director with technical functions such as:
  • Banner set-up/maintenance/roll-over
  • Billing Assessments
  • Application of Credits
  • Job Submissions
  • Population Selections
  • Special Initiative Implementations
  • Touch Net and u Pay maintenance
  • Statement Upload; and other technical requirements
  • Coordinate weekly student refund process

Additional Job Responsibilities
  • Provide written and oral communication on financial planning/financial options
  • Perform outreach to students and work in a proactive manner
  • Be strategic in vision and in practice
  • Act as liaison for External Programs, the Office of Housing and Residence Life, Business Services and the Student Service Center
  • Primary point of contact for Health Insurance


Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in finance, accounting, accounts receivable, or other business-related experience
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Ability to learn new systems
  • Knowledge of ERP systems

Preferences:
  • Experience with Banner software system preferred
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to become a trainer and cross-train staff on operations
  • Strategic minded and technically advanced
  • Ability to propose changes to current policies and procedures to increase customer service efforts and efficiencies
  • Strong understanding of cash management policies and controls
  • Understanding of Title IV financial aid as it pertains to students' accounts
  • Experience working closely with students/families in a higher education environment
  • Have strong communication skills that include the ability to present information in a public manner as well as one-on-one meetings
  • Excellent written skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a courteous and professional manner
  • Inquisitive and analytical, with strong critical thinking skills
  • Able to solve problems, including the ability to help non-experts understand policies and processes
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and successfully prioritize tasks
  • Commitment to and ability to work with diverse populations


Grade of Position: A15E

Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.25

Hiring Range: $51,100.00 - $53,600.00
