The UCLA Department of Music Professor - Woodwinds

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music invites applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Music position, specializing in one of the following woodwind instruments: flute, oboe, bassoon, clarinet, or saxophone. Duties include but are not limited to: teaching a studio of undergraduate and graduate performance and music education majors on the instrument of specialization; serving as woodwinds area head, collaborating and coordinating with part-time artist-teachers on the other woodwind instruments; coaching chamber music; participating in the creation and teaching of graduate seminars; overseeing doctoral dissertations; and contributing to departmental/university service.

We seek a musician-scholar with an internationally established teaching and performance profile; knowledge of core solo, chamber, and orchestral repertoire; and experience in new music. The successful applicant will be a creative and inspiring teacher, performing artist, and colleague. Salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications and professional experience. Anticipated start date is July 1, 2020.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Required: Master's degree in performance on a woodwind instrument and five years of professional experience.

Preferred: Doctoral degree in performance and at least five years of teaching experience in higher education, established solo and orchestral performance profile, discography, and demonstrated success teaching graduate seminars.
