The Part-time Weekend Custodian I is responsible for performing general custodial services within all college buildings to support weekend classes and events: Perform routine housekeeping duties in assigned areas/buildings. Maintain bathrooms in a clean, sanitized and orderly condition in assigned areas/buildings. Check, deliver and refill bathroom supplies and dispensers as needed in assigned areas/buildings. Collect trash and debris in assigned areas/buildings. Special emphasis on maintaining the common areas in assigned areas/buildings in a clean and orderly manner. May include washing tables, sweeping floors, mopping up spills, emptying trash containers, vacuum, clean glass and sweep around entrance ways. Wash windows, window sills, glass doors and woodwork as scheduled in assigned areas/buildings. Clean hallways, building entrances and stair wells, including removing trash and debris in assigned areas/buildings.

High school diploma or equivalent and specialized custodial training required. Possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record as determined by college policy. Ability to read, write and follow simple instructions. Ability to follow directions to ensure the proper operation of equipment and safe use of cleaning chemicals. Demonstrated ability to use custodial equipment, such as vacuum cleaners and to use cleaning chemicals with or without reasonable accommodations. Demonstrated ability to work under the following conditions and meet the following physical requirements: Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 50 lbs. throughout an 8 hour shift. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather condition, such as heat, cold, rain, snow and slippery conditions. Ability to work on uneven surfaces. Ability to utilize ladders/ Proven record of attendance and reliability. Must be flexible regarding work location, duties, hours and shifts. Some experience in custodial work preferred; familiarity with college routine highly desirable. Effective oral communication skills. Ability to deal effectively and tactfully with students, staff, faculty and the public.
