Responsible for working with students in laboratory classes, maintaining equipment as well as preparing materials and provide in lab setups.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Consults with faculty laboratory coordinator to determine equipment purchase priorities based on budget allowances, condition of existing equipment, and scheduled laboratory activities
• Prepares and puts in place equipment scheduled for use during laboratory teaching sessions
• Demonstrates care and use of equipment
• Trains teaching staff and students in application and use of new equipment
• Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and dismantles and repairs equipment when possible
• Confers with teaching staff periodically to evaluate new equipment and methods
• Maintains reference materials used by students
• Maintains and prepares classrooms, materials and apparatuses commonly used in chemistry and physics laboratories
• Inventories, orders and checks in materials and supplies and ensures that good safety, housekeeping and security practices are adhered to at all times
• Assists with registration
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• High School diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED)
• Formal training in the specialized field or equivalent experience
• Ability to assist students and users in a laboratory setting and to work with faculty and staff in planning, organizing, and maintaining the laboratory for the benefit of all
• Experience with computerized systems
• Strong organizational skills
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
• * Courses in the specialized field or equivalent knowledge and experience

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Extensive experience with Adobe Creative
• Experience with Cloud Graphics software

Special Instructions Summary

This is an on-call position, maximum 19.5 hrs. per week. On-call work schedules may vary based on individual campus/departmental needs.
