Provides the overall coordination of Veterans Affairs (VA) for Tarrant County College
Registrar Offices. Responsible for the day-to-day operations and for addressing the
needs of all veteran affairs students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist with the coordination of VA benefit administration for the Registrar’s Office
• Act as a liaison between the Registrar Office and other departments for VA students and processes
• Collaborate with academic advising to ensure that the advisement process is sensitive to VA’s unique academic requirements
• Certifies veterans in compliance with the Department of Veteran Affairs for students pursuing certificate(s) and/or degrees
• Enter, update, and review certification data on the Department of Veteran Affairs online certification system (VA-ONCE)
• Reconcile VA-ONCE to TCCD’s student academic and financial accounts (Colleague)
• Responsible for facilitation of veteran student orientation, workshops, and seminars
• Promote and support campus Student Veteran Organizations
• Responsible for the day-to-day operations of addressing the needs of all VA students
• May conduct internal and external recruitment efforts
• Review VA training materials and new rules, and work with Registrars to update training resources and assist with staff training
• Acts as compliance officer to evaluate critical issues affecting the school’s eligibility to serve veteran/dependent students
• Assist with preparation of annual catalog approval application packet for the Texas Veterans Commission/Veteran Affairs
• Review and continually update TCCD’s printed materials, website, and other promotional resources related to Veterans Affairs
• Prepares various reports and documentation needed to verify attendance, grades, and progress to the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs
• Provides and submits reports of VA statistical data which should include, but is not limited to, special project activities, student contacts, degree completion, and other data as requested
• Regularly interacts with faculty, campus and district administrators, technical staff; and frequent contact with other colleges
• Makes appropriate student referrals to campus and community resources/agencies
• May supervise VA Work-study students
• Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually and follows a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite
• Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC)
• Supports the values of the College: diversity, teaching excellence, student success, innovation and creativity and service to the College
• Supports the mission, values and 3 goals and 8 principles of the College

Required Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Associate’s degree or 60 college hours from a regionally accredited college or university or equivalent experience and three (3) years of experience working in an Admissions, Records, Veteran’s Affairs or Registrar’s Office of a college or university; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification, and related experience
• Excellent interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills
• Ability to exert reasonable and responsible authority
• Ability to work effectively with others
• Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software
• Highly developed presentation, oral and written skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to meet critical deadlines and to multi-task

Desired Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensures

• Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
• Multi-lingual
• Familiarity with Admissions/Records/Registration policies and procedures and US Department of Veterans Affairs policy and processes

Special Instructions Summary

Regular hours range from:
8 a.m. – 7 p.m., Mondays – Thursdays
8 a.m. – 5 p.m., Fridays

Summer hours range from:
7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Mondays – Thursdays
Closed Fridays

Occasional weekends during peak registration periods.
