General Statement of Responsibilities

Administers and proctor's exams for RCC and non-RCC students. Adheres to proctoring processes, procedures, and guidelines. Maintains security and confidentiality of all exams and proctoring data. Provides relevant information to students, staff, and the public. Maintains a clean and orderly testing environment, free of distractions.
Supervision Received
Works under the general supervision of the Dean of Instruction, Curriculum and Instruction.

Supervision Exercised
Supervision is not a responsibility of this position. May oversee student workers.

Examples of Duties - Essential Functions

  1. Proctors paper and computer based exams for RCC credit courses and for other educational institutions and agencies in adherence to specified policies, processes, and procedures.
  2. Oversees all on-site testing processes and procedures, including receiving and returning all exams according to instructions.
  3. Schedules computer appointments for exams.
  4. Monitors exams and ensures security and confidentiality of all testing materials.
  5. Collects, processes, logs, and files new and completed tests according to specified policies, processes, and procedures.
  6. Verifies identity and eligibility of testing candidates.
  7. Works with other test proctors to provide accurate test reports.
  8. Receives calls, takes messages, answers questions, provides assistance, and refers callers. Collects payments as needed.
  9. Assists in determining and implementing testing accommodations in conjunction with Disability Services and others as appropriate.
  10. Provides general customer services to center patrons and the general public. Provides testing center information and general information about other test sites to students, staff, and the public; makes appropriate referrals.
  11. Assists in upkeep and maintenance of the testing center. Prepares the center at the beginning and ending of each term; maintains cleanliness; posts announcements and scheduling information; and maintains copies of appropriate forms and handouts.
  12. Sets up and maintains a variety of records, files, and equipment for operation of testing center, including procedure manuals, spreadsheets and forms.
  13. Reports instances of cheating or other violations of student code of conduct in the testing center. Files incident reports.
  14. Assists with evaluations of testing center and maintains testing data as assigned.
  15. Maintains knowledge of assigned areas of responsibility as assigned.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned.
Screening Criteria

Education and Experience: An Associate's Degree is required. It is a disqualifying factor for an individual in this position to be enrolled in an RCC Associate's Degree or Certification program at the time of employment. One year and three months of clerical experience requiring attention to detail, dealing with the public, using computers, and monitoring tests is required.

Only degrees received from an accredited institution will be accepted: accreditation must be recognized by the office of degree authorization, US Department of Education, as required by ORS 348.609. Final candidate will be required to provide official transcripts for required degree.

Any satisfactory equivalent combination of education and experience which ensures the ability to perform the essential functions of the position may substitute for the requirement(s).

License: For assignments requiring operation of a motor vehicle, possession of a valid Oregon Driver's License and proof of an acceptable driving record are required. New employees establishing resident status in the State of Oregon must obtain an Oregon driver's license within 30 days (ORS 807.020 (1)). Requires all agency testing certifications including Pearson Vue Certification within 3 months of hire. Additional certifications may be required after hire.

Knowledge of: Recordkeeping and statistical report preparation; general office procedures and equipment including computers and various software programs, including Microsoft Office Suite® products; and testing procedures.

Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication and customer service skills; strong computer skills; prioritizing, organizing, and problem-solving skills. Skill in diffusing stressful situations.

Ability to: Work independently and problem-solve to make minor decisions and prioritize in accordance with established policies, regulations, and procedures. Maintain a high level of attention to detail. Maintain communication with other clerical staff. Interact with a diverse population effectively and diplomatically. Operate office equipment and use computers and software programs. Actively participate in department team and office procedures decision-making. Maintain confidentiality of information and data.

Manual dexterity and coordination are required for more than half of the daily work period (about 50%) which is spent sitting while operating office equipment such as computers, keyboards, 10-key, telephones, and other standard office equipment. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, bend, kneel, stoop, twist, crouch, climb, balance, see, talk, hear, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility including the ability to move materials, 5 lbs. or less daily, and 5-25 lbs. occasionally. This position requires both verbal and written communication abilities.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is primarily working indoors in an office environment. The employee is not exposed to hazardous conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and lighting is adequate.Additional Posting Information

This is a Part-time Classified, 19 hour per week, 43 weeks per year (39.28%) position in the Academic Success department. Starting compensation is entry level for Group 5 on the 2019-20 Classified Salary Schedule.
