In an effort to bolster research collaboration, The Chicago School of Professional Psychology is seeking a Grant Writer. The incumbent for this position will assist investigators in developing competitive grant proposals. The ideal candidate will also develop and disseminate tools and application templates in an effort to streamline the proposal development process, thereby minimizing faculty burden. We anticipate this person will play a key role in helping to increase institutional partnerships, competitive proposal submissions, and funding for each of TCSPP’s nationwide campuses. This position will be location agnostic.
- Provide full life cycle editing and writing support for grant submissions, including managing timelines, collecting data, and information from a variety of sources, and coordinating with multiple stakeholders involved in the submission process.
- Identify and research prospective grant opportunities that align with TCSPP’s mission and vision, support faculty research, and other institutional priorities.
- Remain current in interpreting proposal requirements of high priority funding sources.
- Review approved institutional funding priorities, identify prospective funders and make recommendations for moving initiatives forward.
- Ability to research, write, and submit funding proposals in a clear, concise, and compelling manner to government, foundation and other funding entities.
- Assist, as needed with interim and final grant reports, as well as other communications to funders.
- Assist in the maintenance of the annual calendar of grant submissions, reports, and related activities to ensure all pending deadlines are met.
- Work collaboratively with various College departments to secure appropriate information in support of proposal and report submissions.
Essential Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Grant writing experience, preferably with an education focus.
- Ideal experience should demonstrate a proven track record of securing new funding opportunities; comprehensive knowledge of research, and the ability to distinguish and identify opportunities relevant to faculty, administrative staff, and institutional leadership.
- Ability to work under pressure.
- Excellent written and verbal skills.
- Highly organized with the ability to work independently with minimum supervision, exhibit independent judgment, implement systems and follow-up processes.
- Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing diverse data.
- Excellent computer skills to include Microsoft Office and database management skills.
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work collaboratively and independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced deadline-driven environment.
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, English or related field.
- Minimum of four-five years’ experience in grant writing required.
- Ability to proofread narrative proposal documentation along with outstanding writing skills including logic, structure, clarity, syntax, and use of persuasion.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Strong organization skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Exhibits professionalism and the demeanor to represent TCSPP with internal and external constituents.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive materials is required.
- Experience in a higher education setting a plus.
- Familiarity with funders that support university research a plus.
