Basic Function

The Assistant Director for Business & Contract Support, reporting to Director of Administration as part of the Administrative Services department, is a general administrative and business management position that provides supervision and leadership of the Business & Contract Support team, ensuring effective and efficient operations while maintaining a high level of customer service and compliance with established policies and procedures. This is a centrally located position with direct reports located at 5 campus locations

Duties and Responsibilities

The Assistant Director for Business & Contract Support provides direct oversight of the Campus and College Business & Contract Coordinator (BCC) positions and serves as a management level liaison with the Shared Services Center. This position is expected to perform backup processing support for staff and ensure workloads are managed and distributed appropriately.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelor’s Degree in Business, Public Administration, Accounting, Finance, IT, or related field. OR combination of education, training and experience.

Several years of experience in Finance, business management, or procurement.

Supervisory experience.

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or MPA

Professional certification in directly related field.

Knowledge of the state’s Risk Management program

Experience submitting insurance claims for property damage/loss

Experience working in higher education finance or administration.

Experience using eVA or other electronic purchasing systems.

Experience managing and supervising a large team of professional staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Supervisory skills.

Ability to communicate orally and in writing.

Skilled in the area of customer service with a focus on effectively building and fostering relationships and responding to customer inquiries with a sense of urgency and professionalism.

Ability to plan and organize trainings to individuals or groups either in person or online.

Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook and technical skills and ability to learn new software systems quickly and easily. Advanced MS Excel Skills are required.

Highly organized and ability to manage and learn a variety of new tasks, processes, policies, and procedures.

Self-motivated and ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision.

Ability to analyze financial accounts, invoices, or reports and draw conclusions

This position is funded with non-continuous or non-recurring funding and is subject to continuation based on fiscal year funds and the needs of the college.
