General Summary The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is seeking team-oriented candidates for a tenure-track position in the Food and Nutrition Management sequence of the Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics (FND) program beginning on August 16, 2020.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Doctoral degree in Hospitality, Food Service Systems Management, Nutrition, or closely related field. Applicants with expected completion of their doctoral degree before May 15, 2021 will be considered. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to teach in the following areas: restaurant operations, food service management, hospitality, food planning, marketing & cost control, quantity foods, or similar courses within the Food and Nutrition Management sequence of a Food, Nutrition, and Dietetics program. Applicants must also demonstrate a record of or potential for research and publication in scholarly journals in the discipline. Candidates must be able to demonstrate oral proficiency in the English language as a requirement for this position, as mandated by state law. For consideration for appointment at the rank of associate professor, applicants should have an appropriate record of teaching excellence and scholarship.

Preferred: Teaching experience, professional experience in food and beverage management, or a record of publication in discipline-specific scholarly journals. Active participation in relevant academic or professional organizations such as the Foodservice Systems Management Education Council, the International Council on Hotel, Restaurant, and Institutional Education, or Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, is also preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Within the Food and Nutrition Management sequence, teach undergraduate/graduate courses in a state-of-the-art foods lab, develop a focused area of scholarship, advise graduate students, provide service to the University and profession, and supervise undergraduate and graduate professional practice students.

SALARY RANK AND TENURE
Salary is commensurate with professional experience and preparation. This is a tenure-track, nine-month position with potential for summer employment.
Additional Information: THE DEPARTMENT
The Department of Family and Consumer Sciences is one of six departments and two schools in the College of Applied Science and Technology (www.cast.illinoisstate.edu). The Department is accredited by the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences (AAFCS) and offers five professional undergraduate programs [Fashion Design and Merchandising; Food, Nutrition and Dietetics; Human Development and Family Science; Interior Design; and FCS Teacher Education]. The department also offers a comprehensive M.S./M.A. program, including a Dietetic Internship sequence and a Child Life option. The FCS Department houses four accredited programs including: undergraduate interior design (CIDA), undergraduate Teacher Education program (NCATE), undergraduate DPD program (ACEND), and a graduate Dietetic Internship (ACEND). The Department has approximately 553 undergraduate and 62 graduate students, 21 full-time and 11 part-time faculty, a full-time academic advisor, 2 civil service staff and an affiliated Child Care Center. Currently there are approximately 135 FND undergraduate majors.
