Nature of WorkBeat Vögeli’s newly started laboratory on the Universityof Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus is looking for a highly motivated researchassistant to work on exciting projects focusing on conformation andcommunication networks within and between proteins and nucleic acids by NuclearMagnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and other biophysical methods. The natureof the work will be primarily wet bench work in molecular biology andbiochemistry.  Current research assistants or recent college graduates willbe considered.  Recent graduates lookingfor additional research experience before applying to graduate school arewelcome.  A minimum of one year of commitmentis required. SupervisionReceived/Exercised

This position will report directly to Dr. Vögeli who willprovide constructive feedback. The person in this position will be asked topass on training that they have received relevant to their work to students,postdoctoral fellows, and other research assistants that may join Dr. Vögeli’slaboratory.

Recombinant protein expression and purification; cloning;RNA transcription and purification; biochemical assays; laboratory management


Salary and Benefits:The salary range for this position is $35,500 to $55,000 per annum, and is negotiable with skills and experience. The University of Colorado offers a full benefits package. Information on University benefits programs, including eligibility, is located at EmployeeServices.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:

Abachelor’s degree in biology or related field plus a minimum of 1-2 yearsresearch experience
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledgein molecular biology with a focus on protein expression and purification
  • Additionalbackground in RNA sample preparation is preferred
  • Abilityto organize and present data generated during experiments
  • Self-organizingand independence
  • Abilityto collaborate in a team setting
