Assistant/Associate Professor

TheEnglish department at the University of Colorado Denver invites applicationsfor a Tenure Track Advanced Assistant or Associate Professor in Linguistics who will also serve as the Academic Director ofthe English as a Second Language Academy (50%).  Primary specialization inEnglish as a Second/Other Language. Secondary specialization open. Tenure home in either the Department of English or Modern Languages,depending on research and teaching expertise. Teaching load is 1/1 with research and service expectations. 

The ESLAcademy provides innovative instruction and cultural enrichment in anEnglish-immersion environment to both university-bound students anddiscipline-specific graduate student cohorts from around the world.  Itfosters respect for cultural diversity and inclusion in all forms. Thecurriculum integrates English fluency, accuracy in written and oral expression,and content studies with interpersonal skills and American life skills.  The ESL Academy offers five terms year-roundand the Academic Director is responsible for all academic operations, managingbudgets, supervising faculty and staff, and coordinating with other offices oncampus.

QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Earned doctorate in Linguistics, English or EnglishEducation
  • Experience managing budgets
  • Experience supervising and mentoring faculty
  • Evidence of teaching excellence
  • Evidence of a strong scholarly record
