Instructor of Linguistics

The Department of Modern Languages at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for an Instructor of Linguistics. The position is a 0.8 FTE, 9-month appointment with a teaching load of 18-20 credits per academic year.   Primary teaching duties include courses in general linguistics and sociolinguistics; additionally, the successful candidate must be able to teach language skills courses at all levels in one of the following: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Latin OR Spanish, in online and on-campus formats. Service-related duties include coordination of our nascent, interdisciplinary linguistics minor.  
The Department of Modern Languages consists of a collegial, multi-language faculty with strengths in teaching, research and program development. We offer a minor in linguistics, as well as an M.A. in Spanish, majors in Spanish and French, and minors in three languages.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
  • M.A. or Ph.D. in (general or language-specific) Linguistics
  • Ability to teach general linguistics courses in English
  • Ability to teach advanced language skills courses in one of the following: Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Latin OR Spanish
  • Evidence of Excellence in Teaching
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated ability to use instructional technology and teach online.
