PLACEMENT: Clerical, grade 5
MINIMUM PAY RATE:$14.91 per hour

POSITION SUMMARY
Provides a wide variety of responsible clerical and secretarial duties requiring the exercise of discretion; provides effective and efficient customer service assistance to students, faculty and college personnel. Considerable judgment, initiative and independent action in establishing or adapting work procedures to new situations are required. Additionally, this position supports Project Achieve-TRiO/Educational Talent Search activities.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Perform clerical and office support activities for the Director of Project Achieve and Coordinator.
2.Prepare and type correspondence, documents, compile data for internal and external reports, tests and other related materials. Prepare and maintain financial records, files and databases, process work orders, make travel arrangements and maintain calendar.
3.Assist with event planning and scheduling/coordinating meetings involving Educational Talent Search stakeholders.
4.Assist Coordinator with preparing monthly ETS reports to the Director of Project Achieve.
5.Attend all major ETS meetings and record discussions pertaining to grant activities.
6.Prepare training materials for professional development activities related to Educational Talent Search.
7.Complete a variety of word processing tasks, create spreadsheets, and arrange documents based on established electronic and hardcopy filing systems.
8.Receive and direct visitors, handle phone calls, take and relay messages, provide requested information. Prioritize and distribute mail.
9.Operate standard office equipment and provide technical support to department personnel and students with the use of office equipment.
10.Work collaboratively with other departments and/or vendors. Be willing to be cross-trained to perform related clerical tasks.
11.Participate in achieving department and college goals and objectives.
12.Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1.High School Diploma or equivalent.
2.Two (2) years of clerical support experience.
3.Attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, initiative, and event planning skills.
4.Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word and Excel specifically) and current office procedures.
5.Ability to handle multiple tasks and responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
6.Adhere to and maintain confidentiality.
7.Strong interpersonal communication skills and willingness to work cooperatively with a diverse population.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1.Associate’s degree with coursework in Humanities or Social Science disciplines.
2.Knowledge of JJC and or Joliet Central procedures and policies.
3.Prior experience with non-profit and/or grant-funded activities.

They also contain information about crime statistics for the three previous years for all JJC campuses, property owned and controlled by JJC District 525 and on public property immediately adjacent to JJC campuses.
