Job Summary: The News Bureau Chief gathers, writes, produces and reports news and features for air on Alabama Public Radio and Alabama Public Television. The Bureau Chief covers stories of statewide interest within a specific city/area. Position may supervise other staff.
Additional Department Summary: This Radio News Bureau Chief gathers, writes, produces and reports news and features
for air on Alabama Public Radio. This position hosts “Morning Edition,” APR’s most listened to news program. The position will also be responsible for supervising and recruiting Alabama Public Radio’s freelance journalists and manages the freelance production budget.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree two (2) years of experience in television and/or radio news gathering, writing and reporting.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Prompt arrival at 5:00 a.m. or alerting the supervisor of inability to do shift is essential.
