Job Summary: The University of Alabama invites applications for a pool of qualified Admissions Counselors. These positions could vary by semester. Applicants in this pool are reviewed when the department has an immediate need to fill a vacancy.
Admissions Counselors identify, recruit, evaluate and enroll qualified students to the University and serve as on-campus and outside field representative of the University of Alabama. The primary duties include the recruitment and admission of new students to the University. These duties may include, travel, interviewing, making presentations, promoting the University of Alabama and screening applications.
Additional Department Summary: Provides support in the University’s efforts to identify and enroll qualified undergraduate students and will be an on-campus and field representative of the University. The primary duties are to support in the identification, recruitment and admissions of new students. These duties include assisting visitors in the main Admissions Office and/or the Admissions Welcome Center. Additionally, the incumbent will represent UA by attending college fairs, making presentations, and communicating information with prospective students, their families, guidance counselors, alumni, and friends of UA.
Required Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma and four (4) years of experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, sales, communications, education or counseling; OR Bachelor's degree and six (6) months of experience in student recruitment, university admissions, public relations, marketing, sales, communications, education or counseling
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: The ability to travel alone out of town, sometimes overnight, an interest in working with prospective college students and their families; the ability to work with different cultures and groups of people. The functions of this position will require some evening and weekend work. The ability to work in a fast paced front office environment. The position requires the capability to stand for long periods of time and to lift and carry large quantities of sometimes heavy recruitment materials. Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 21 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report as determined by the insurance carrier. The ability to obtain a Class C Commercial Driver’s License within 6 months of being hired.
Skills and Knowledge: : Basic knowledge in the usage of personal computers and standard application software (word processing, spreadsheet and/or database management programs). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
