Works established routine tutoring hours on the Liberty Campus for students taking biology courses; completes duties such as tutoring core courses in Biology including, but not limited to, BIOL 1103/L, BIOL 1107/L, 1108/L, BIOL 2081/L and all non-major biology courses offered; organizes and monitors open lab time for student study groups and tutoring; meets with Biology faculty to ensure tutoring efforts are consistent with classroom and laboratory curriculum; assist with routine laboratory preparations before or after laboratory classes as needed.

Shift Specifics: 10 hours per week; flexible with class schedule.

Student employees cannot work more than 1300 hours in a 12-consecutive month period.

Minimum Education Required

Successful completion of BIOL 1107 (Principles of Biology I) and BIOL 1108 (Principles of Biology II) or equivalent courses with a grade of “B” or better; must be enrolled in six or more undergraduate credit hours or three or more graduate credit hours at Georgia Southern University.

Effective communication (verbal and written), organization and human relations skills; ability to work well in a diverse environment; proficiency with computer and Microsoft Office Applications software including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases; successful completion of the background investigation process prior to employment.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience tutoring in multiple introductory-level courses.

Preferred Education

Pursuing a degree in Biology, Health Professions, or a related field and/or successful completion of BIOL 2081 (Human Anatomy and Physiology I) and BIOL 2082 (Human Anatomy and Physiology II) or equivalent courses with a grade of “B” or better.
