Research Associate (Limited Term) - Gender, Politics and Elections Management in Ghana

We invite applications forthe position of Research Associate (Limited Term) for a twelve-monthappointment. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2020. The incumbent willlead research projects that explore the intersections of law, gender, politics,representation, and elections management in Ghana specifically, and Africabroadly. The successful applicant will be based in Ghana, with regular extendedtravel to Canada.


Key Responsibilities:The Research Associate willbe under the general direction of Prof. Wisdom Tettey, with responsibility for

  • Developing andexecuting research instruments and protocols
  • Coordinatingfield research in Ghana and other African countries, as necessary
  • Undertaking fieldresearch in Ghana and other African countries, as necessary
  • Assistinggraduate and undergraduate students involved in the project, both in Ghana andin Canada
  • Keeping abreastof current literature in relevant fields and related developments in Ghana andAfrica
  • Co-authoringpapers and presenting them at conferences



CampusQualifications:

  • At least, aMaster’s degree in Law, with undergraduate degree in political science, communicationsstudies or related experience
  • Minimum 3 years’experience in civic education and elections management
  • Minimum 3 years’ experienceworking with governments, civil society organizations, think-tanks, andinternational organizations
  • Minimum 3 years’ experienceworking and doing research in Ghana and other African countries
  • Minimum 3 years’ experiencewith electoral landscape in Ghana and other African countries
  • Related advocacy,teaching and/or training experience of at least 3 years will be an asset
  • Evidence ofcommitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and the promotion of a respectfuland collegial learning and working environment.:
Skills:
  • Demonstratedability to lead teams
  • Excellent oraland written communications skills
  • Demonstratedinterpersonal and intercultural communication skills
  • Demonstratedability to communicate verbally in a Ghanaian language(s)
  • Proficiency withOutlook, Word and Excel
  • Basic knowledgeof computer operations
Travel
  • Extended travelto and within Ghana; regular travel to Canada and, possibly, other Africancountries; occasional conference travel
