DESCRIPTION

The Practice Coordinator provides clinical and administrative support to the IBD Center, Advanced and General GI care navigation hub. Responsible for answering telephone calls in the care hub. Telephonic duties include but are not limited to pending medication orders to providers, transferring symptom calls to RN triage, reviewing bowel prep instructions with patients, contacting patients with information from providers or nurses, and contacting provider offices for records or other information.

Additional duties include but are not limited to providing patient care support for appointments (check-in through discharge); scheduling clinic and procedural visits, call-center support, fill physician block-times, maintain statistics, order supplies, utilize computer system, maintain referral database, monitor and work on assigned GI pools, monitor and respond to patient my chart messages, provide customer service assistance to the staff, physicians, and patients; provide coverage assistance as needed to other GI areas such as call center, front desk procedures, and other clinic/procedural areas.

Must be a flexible team player and manage multiple priorities to meet administrative and patient care needs. Provides excellence in customer service. May be required to float to Perlman GI clinic or Hillcrest GI clinic on occasion as directed by the manager/supervisor. Other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART w/in six months of hire date.

  • Three years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience with scheduling clinic and/or procedural appointments.

  • Experience handling multiple phone lines.

  • Must be a flexible team player.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities to meet administrative and patient care needs.

  • Must demonstrate excellence in customer service.

  • Must have excellent communication both written and verbal.

  • Must possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • One or more years of patient care experience in acute care or ambulatory setting.

  • Computerized documentation experience.

  • Medical Assistant Experience.

  • Knowledge and experience in the GI specialty.

  • Bilingual: English/Spanish.

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
