DESCRIPTION

This position is called upon to perform a full spectrum of advanced analytical support functions independently for the Office of Contracts & Grants (OCGA) Business Contracts Team. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, assisting with the preparation of contracts including subaward modifications, Multi-Campus Awards, Unfunded Agreements, and others as required. Incumbent assists with gathering required backup documentation, and processing agreements.

Under general supervision, develops and/or oversees a wide variety of transactions related to contract and grant management and maintains contract and grant records in compliance with institutional and research sponsor policies. The Sponsored Projects Analyst is responsible for project management to lead new team and departmental initiatives, periodic and ad hoc reporting on workload management and transaction volume, along with providing data analysis using institutional databases, the university financial system, and the UCSD enterprise e-Procurement system to ensure timely processing of transactions and a balanced workload for all members of the team.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Proven knowledge of applicable federal, state, local, sponsor and institutional regulations, policies, and guidelines.

  • Experience with and knowledge of extramural contracts and grants and compliance with federal, state, and university regulations

  • Knowledge of applicable compliance requirements related to use of human or animal subjects in research, financial conflict of interest, biosafety, etc.

  • Strong competence in the use of spreadsheet and database software in financial analysis, fiscal management and financial reports.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage a high volume of transactions.

  • Demonstrated project management and data analysis skills

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent customer service skills.

PREFERRED:

  • Prior sponsored research experience at a university or academic medical center.
