Provide a brief statement of the position duties. The position is for an applied environmental scientist with teaching and research experience that integrates natural science disciplines and incorporates quantitative analysis to address global environmental challenges. This position will cover teaching, research and service responsibilities appropriate for the rank of Assistant Professor. This is a campus-based position.
Required Education: Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree
Discipline/Degree Area: Environmental Science, Geography, or a closely related field
Required Specialized Training/Certifications: Ph.D. (granted by time of appointment in August 2020) in Environmental Science, Geography, or a closely related field
Required Minimum Work Experience: Demonstrated university teaching experience, an active scholarly agenda, a publication record in Environmental Science, Geography, or a closely related field.
Knowledge, skills, abilities or attributes required. Ability to produce applied environmental science scholarship, and an active research agenda in applied environmental science disciplines such as natural resource management, agriculture science, environmental hazards, or environmental remediation.

Demonstrated ability to teach courses such as Introduction to Environmental Science, Introduction to Geographic Research, Quantitative Methodsm Environmental Impact Assessment, and an intermediate-level environmental science course related to the candidate's area of expertise that complements the EEGS Department's curriculum.
Additional Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated strong commitment and ability to provide excellent undergraduate instruction and advising.

Ability to secure interdisciplinary grants.

Experience with applied environmental science research.

Desire to work collaboratively to study human-environment interactions and to address contemporary sustainability challenges.

Experience integrating geographic information systems or remote sensing into environmental science research.
