The Psychology Department at Texas State University invites applications for a tenure track position effective Fall 2020. The area of specialization is open. The successful candidate will be expected to 1) develop and maintain an active research program in psychology, broadly construed; 2) involve undergraduate and graduate students in research; 3) actively seek and maintain external funding; 4) teach relevant undergraduate and graduate courses; 5) participate in service as a good departmental citizen; and 6) exhibit a collaborative style that facilitates cooperation and teamwork, as well as an ability to work effectively in a multicultural academic community.

Designated an Emerging Research University by the State of Texas, Texas State is classified under “Doctoral Universities: Higher Research Activity,” the second-highest designation for research institutions under the Carnegie classification system. Required Qualifications

Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related field by the time of appointment.

To be eligible for hire at an advanced rank the candidate must meet the requirements for that rank as established by the department. The successful applicant will receive the appropriate rank and title based on university and department established standards.

Preferred Qualifications

1) Record of excellence in scholarly publications;
2) Involvement of undergraduate and graduate students in research;
3) Evidence of, or potential for, securing external research funding (for assistant professor rank) or record of success in obtaining external research funding (for associate professor or professor rank);
4) Evidence of teaching effectiveness; and
5) Demonstrated commitment to diversity, cultural sensitivity, and community-engaged learning.
