Position: Assistant Professor of Computer Science

Starting Date: August, 2020

Minimum Qualifications:
1) An earned doctorate in Computer Science (or closely related field) from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) will be considered, though for appointment, the doctorate must be completed by the date of appointment (8/20/2020).
2) Evidence of successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level.
3) Evidence of publications in scholarly Computer Science proceedings or journals.

Preferred Qualifications:
1) Demonstrated expertise in one or more of the following (listed alphabetically):
• Augmented/Mixed/Virtual Reality
• Computer Graphics/Game Programming
• Computer Science Education
• Cybersecurity
• Programming Languages and Paradigms
• Robotics and Artificial Intelligence
2) Evidence of successful teaching experience at the graduate level.
3) Documented experience in generating financial resources through grants/contracts.

Duties:
The primary professional responsibilities of instructional faculty members are: teaching, research, scholarship and/or creative activity, and service to the University, profession and to the community.  These responsibilities generally include: advising students, participation in campus and system-wide committees, maintaining office hours, working collaboratively and productively with colleagues, and participation in traditional academic functions.

Salary: Initial salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology (http://www.calstatela.edu/ecst) offers ABET-accredited BS programs in Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering and Computer Science; an ATMAE-accredited BS program in Industrial Technology; and BS degrees in Aviation Administration, Fire Protection Administration and Technology, and Graphic Communications. The College also offers MS degrees in Computer Science, Civil, Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, and Industrial Management.

The Department:
The Department of Computer Science (http://cs.calstatela.edu) is in the College of Engineering, Computer Science, and Technology and offers a graduate (MS degree), an undergraduate (BS degree), and a blended (BS+MS degrees) programs of study. The Bachelor of Science in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET, http://www.abet.org.
