Job Summary
The School of Mathematics andNatural Sciences seeks a Research Assistant Professor (non-tenure track) to performinnovative research in the field of Biochemistry and Virology. The successfulcandidate will be expected to begin in the Fall 2019 term.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
1. Perform scientific research in laboratory
2. Build scientific collaboration with USMfaculty members
3. Publish in peer-reviewed scientificjournals
4. Establish independent research and applyfor extramural funding

Minimum Qualifications Applicant must have earned aPh.D. in Chemistry or Biochemistry and must have several years of postdoctoraltraining in the field of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. The applicant musthave experience working with HIV strains.

Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesHIV proteins expression and purification,enzymology applied to drug discovery, molecular biology techniques includingcloning, site directed mutagenesis and RT PCR, mammalian cell culturetechniques applied to HIV, assay automation using robotic equipment.

Preferred Qualifications Documented experience working onHIV-1 integrase mechanisms of inhibition.
